Port Elizabeth – The High court has sentenced New Brighton man to life in prison for the rape of an 11-year-old girl in 2011 today.
The 53-year-old man identified as Wellington Mboniswa was sentenced after 6 years of investigation for the rape of an 11-year-old girl in January of that year. Mboniswa captured the young girl as she was going to school in New Brighton.
An expert in Family Violence and Sexual Offences from Motherwell who headed the investigation ensured that the offenders name was recorded on the National Register for Sexual Offenders and that the justice was served for the now 18 year old victim.
Captain Andre Beetge had this to say, “The protection of women’s rights and children, and specifically where sexual offences are committed against them, is a national priority for the South African Police Service as well as our courts.”
