Port Elizabeth – The 77-year-old man who was reported missing on Friday 11 August was found wandering the streets of New Brighton Monday.
The man who was last seen waiting for his lift to his family home at the Ikamvelihle South African Police Service Police Station. His family soon arrived only to find that the man was not at the police station and was suspected to have been wandering around the streets of Ikamvelihle.
A case of a missing person’s report was opened because the elderly man suffers from an intellectual disability. News reports were broadcast on radio and live internet social media pages of news agents around Nelson Mandela Bay area.
According to information received, alert members of the community in New Brighton spotted the man who was last seen wearing black pants a blue shirt and a navy jersey, and then took him to New Brighton police station.
The Motherwell Cluster Commander, Major General Dawie Rabie expressed his gratitude to those community members and added his appreciation on behalf of the SAPS Management towards all the media agencies who took part in the broadcasting of the missing person report.
